Ahmad Marouf is a Toronto-based director known for his short film EXTRAS, which he also wrote and produced, and for his work as a journalist, producer, and screenwriter. He previously served as a producer for Syrian Television, wrote the feature film I Was Once Told, and co-produced the documentary One Heart, Two Homes. His scriptwriting has been recognized at international film festivals, and EXTRAS has garnered accolades from film festivals in Italy, Sweden, Australia Mexico and US. In 2011, Marouf won the Rainbow Caterpillar Children’s Literature in Mother Language Award for his story “Sea of Pearls,” which was published in the anthology The Best of All Worlds.
